Consorcio Vía Verde started with the idea of promoting Rural Tourism, firstly in the municipalities of Coripe and Montellano. Then, it expanded and the town councils of El Coronil, La Puebla de Cazalla, Pruna, Olvera, Algámitas and Puerto Serrano. Morón de la Frontera, Algodonales and El Saucejo becomes part of a new extension.

The initial purpose of Consorcio Vía Verde  is the tourist and environmental development of the region (Sierra Sur of Seville and the Sierra of Cádiz) by the creation  of an homogeneous and competitive  tourist destination.  Nowadays, Consorcio Vía Verde works in these areas: employment, tourism, agriculture and environment, new technologies and culture in order to work towards a comprehensive development of the region.
